This year’s examination introduces a dual mode system that combines Hybrid Computer Based Examination (CBE) and Pen and Paper Examination (PPE) across sixteen selected subjects. Prospective candidates must register online and offline through the official NECO portal at www.ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng. The process involves creating an account, purchasing registration quota, entering biodata, and completing biometric capture at a reputable cybercafé.

  • A passport photograph not older than six months with a white background is required.
  • A valid National Identification Number (NIN) must be provided.
  • Biometric fingerprints will be captured during registration and verified during the examination.
  • Candidates with mismatched photographs or fingerprints will be treated as impersonators and sanctioned.

Registration Fee and Materials

The registration fee for NECO GCE 2026 is ₦30,000. This includes:

  • A Four-figure Mathematical Table.
  • A Waterproof Certificate Jacket.

The Referee’s Attestation section of the Photocard must be signed and stamped by:

  • A Secondary School Principal.
  • An Ordained Clergyman or Chief Imam.
  • A Commissioned Officer of the Armed Forces or Police (not below Captain).
  • A Senior Civil Servant (GL. 14 and above).
  • A Legal Practitioner with at least ten years’ experience.

Candidates are no longer required to submit photocards at NECO state offices for stamping.

Special needs candidates must register like others but should correctly indicate the nature of their needs during biodata entry.

Examination Centres

Centres are grouped into Neighbourhoods within each state. Candidates must reprint their Photocard at least two weeks before the exam to confirm their centre.

  • Walk-in candidates must register at least three hours before their chosen subject.

  • Candidates are entitled to one-time correction before the exam begins.
  • Smoking and electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches, and programmable calculators are strictly prohibited.
  • Candidates must dress in mufti and arrive at least 30 minutes before each paper.
  • Multiple registrations will result in cancellation of results.
