The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially approved Thursday, July 9, 2026 as the passing-out date for the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members nationwide. This announcement marks the conclusion of a year-long journey of service, discipline, and nation-building for thousands of young Nigerians.

The scheme made the announcement in a statement signed by Caroline Embu, Director of Information and Public Relations, and posted on its official X handle. According to the statement, activities leading up to the passing out exercise commenced on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, and will run until the final parade.
The NYSC emphasized that the exercise will be conducted in a low-key manner, culminating in the distribution of Certificates of National Service to eligible corps members across all local government areas of the country.

Programme of Activities
The NYSC outlined a series of activities designed to prepare corps members for the transition from service to post-service life. These include:
- Job Advisory and Counselling: Conducted by NYSC in collaboration with relevant agencies, this programme equips corps members with career guidance, entrepreneurship tips, and counselling sessions to help them navigate life after service.
- Registration and Clearance: Corps members will undergo final documentation and clearance supervised by Local Government Inspectors (LGIs).
- Final Clearance by Zonal Inspectors: This step ensures that only corps members who have satisfactorily completed all requirements of the national service programme will be issued their discharge certificates.
These activities reflect NYSC’s commitment to not only celebrating the end of service but also preparing corps members for meaningful contributions to society.
Certificates of National Service
The Certificate of National Service remains one of the most important documents for Nigerian graduates. It validates the successful completion of the one-year mandatory service and is often a prerequisite for employment opportunities in both public and private sectors. NYSC reiterated that only corps members who have fulfilled all obligations will be awarded the certificate.
Director-General’s Message
Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, Director-General of NYSC, extended his congratulations to the outgoing corps members. He wished them a successful winding-up and passing-out exercise, urging them to uphold the core values of the scheme — service, humility, and patriotism.
He further encouraged corps members to remain good ambassadors of the NYSC in their post-service endeavours, reminding them that the lessons learned during service should guide their future contributions to national development.
Significance of the NYSC Passing-out Parade
The NYSC Passing-out Parade is more than just a ceremonial event. It represents the culmination of a year of sacrifice, resilience, and community service. For many corps members, it is a proud moment that symbolizes their transition into the next phase of life, whether in employment, entrepreneurship, or further studies.
The low-key nature of the 2026 exercise underscores NYSC’s focus on efficiency and meaningful engagement rather than elaborate celebrations, ensuring that the emphasis remains on the achievements and future prospects of the corps members.
